In not even 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will play their 15th game of this year’s regular season, trying to improve to 7-8: Bill Belichick’s club will square off against a Buffalo Bills team that is heading into the contest with an 11-3 record. Before getting ahead of ourselves, however, let’s take a look at the players on both sides who have been declared inactive and will therefore not participate in today’s contest:
Patriots inactives
LB Ja’Whaun Bentley
LB Shilique Calhoun
DT Lawrence Guy
RB Damien Harris
QB Brian Hoyer
C Marcus Martin
New England entered the weekend with 21 players listed on its injury report. Among those, one was already ruled out: Jordan Thomas was set to miss the contest against Buffalo for non-injury related reasons. The depth tight end was placed on the Reserve/Covid-19 list since then, however, meaning that he no longer was part of the active roster and inactives’ list.
Of the six players who ended up as actual inactives versus the Bills, four were listed as questionable heading into the contest: running back Damien Harris (ankle), defensive tackle Lawrence Guy (shoulder), and linebackers Ja’Whaun Bentley (shoulder) and Shilique Calhoun (knee). Brian Hoyer and the recently signed Marcus Martin, meanwhile, are healthy scratches.
This means that the rest of New England’s 20-player questionables list is good to go. Running back J.J. Taylor (quadricep), wide receivers Donte Moncrief (thigh) and Matthew Slater (knee), offensive linemen Jermaine Eluemunor (ankle), Justin Herron (ankle), Shaq Mason (calf) and David Andrews (calf) will play.
The same goes for defensive tackles Adam Butler (shoulder) and Byron Cowart (back), linebackers John Simon (hamstring), Tashawn Bower (ankle) and Anfernee Jennings (shoulder), cornerbacks J.C. Jackson (knee) and Jonathan Jones (neck). Kicker Nick Folk (back) and long snapper Joe Cardona (ankle) are also active.
Bills inactives
QB Jake Fromm
TE Reggie Gilliam
DE Trent Murphy
QB Davis Webb
Of the three men listed on Buffalo’s final injury report, only one will not play tonight: tight end/fullback Reggie Gilliam (knee/hamstring) was already ruled out on Saturday.
