At this point, when the Pittsburgh Steelers go on the clock in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, there are going to be a significant number of options for the Steelers with that pick. So many in fact, it makes perfect sense the Steelers would at least entertain the idea of a trade back.
This is exactly what I did in this latest simulation. In fact, I made multiple trades in this simulation to see just how things should shake out. Here is our latest seven-round mock draft update.
Second round-RB Javonte Williams, North Carolina
The Steelers trade out of the first round and still land an elite feature back.
Third round-C Creed Humphrey, Oklahoma
Moving to the second round, Pittsburgh lands a second-straight offensive starter with Humphrey.
Third round-OT Jalen Mayfield, Michigan
Poor offseason numbers pushes Mayfield down but his film says he can play.
Fourth round-EDGE Shaka Toney, Penn State
Toney has been overshadowed by Jayson Oweh but he’s an impressive athletic edge rusher in his own right.
Fifth round-CB Rachad Wildgoose, Wisconsin
Wildgoose is rough around the edges but plays with exceptional effort and has a significant upside.
Sixth round-TE Briley Moore, Kansas State
Moore is a quality H-back prospect who lines up all over the field as a receiver and is a punishing run blocker.
Seventh round-T William Sherman, Colorado
I am much higher on Sherman than most. Getting an experienced guy who can play guard or tackle this late in the draft is a no-brainer.
