NFL Odds and Predictions: Picking the Week 2 games against the spread - Behind the Steel Curtain

The 2021 NFL season is now underway! Some teams did exactly what many expected, while other surprised in one way or another. For now, half the teams are undefeated while the other half are in contention to have more losses in a season than any other NFL team in history. It’s this week which puts the results of Week 1 in perspective as obtaining a victory over a certain team could seem more or less impressive based on what that does in their next game.

For the 2021 NFL season, the same “Super 6” of BTSC staff who participated last year, as well as the addition of a couple blokes from Down Under, will be picking every game against the spread and the over/under point totals. We are keeping up with the changes we made last year and including the Thursday games. Please remember we are not experts on betting or any kind of sports gamblers. We are just a group of Steelers’ fans saying who we think will come through each week.

We are using the same program as last year called Tallysight It allows us to show picks in a much more “friendly to the eye” manner. To understand how it works, the default tab is for our picks against the spread. To see the over/under picks, click the “O/U” tab in the upper left. Also, make sure you scroll on the graphic to see all the picks.

Last week, the Aussies came on strong as they joined in on the picks this season. Matty Peverell led the way as he went 9-6 against the spread (there was one push in the San Francisco/Detroit game) just ahead of Mark Davison and Jeff Hartman at 8-7. Bringing up the rear was both myself and Shannon White at 5-10. It was Mark Davison who went 10-6 in the over/under followed closely by Matty at 9-7. It was Michael Beck who was almost perfect on what NOT to pick with the over/under going 2-14.
