Yankees injuries: Updates on Ryan LaMarre, Clint Frazier, Giancarlo Stanton, Zack Britton, Aaron Hicks - NJ.com

All of the Yankees will have great memories of Corey Kluber no-hitting the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night except for right fielder Ryan LaMarre, who injured his right hamstring running out a third-inning groundball.

Called up from Triple-A on Sunday to take injured center fielder Aaron Hicks’ roster spot, LaMarre now may be heading to the IL, as well.

LaMarre’s injury occurred on a day the Yankees announced outfielder Clint Frazier was sidelined at least for one day due to a sore neck and shortstop Gleyber Torres returned after a week of quarantining in Tampa due to positive COVID tests (even though he’s fully vaccinated).

Here is the latest on the injured Yankees:

GIANCARLO STANTON, DH

Injury: Left quad strain.

Missed games: 6.

Status: 10-day injured list retro to May 14. Eligible to return on May 25 when they Yankees return from an off day.

The latest: Stanton has been feeling better and took swings in an indoor batting cage the last couple of days.

Aaron Boone update: “I’m definitely encouraged by the amount of stuff he was able to do. Even though it’s just cage BP, I think he felt really good with that. It was probably another step forward.”

CLINT FRAZIER, OF

Injury: Neck discomfort.

Missed games: 1

Status: Day to day.

The latest: Frazier alerted the Yankees that his neck was sore before Tuesday’s game in Texas, a scheduled rest day for him following 11 starts in a row. He felt well enough to take batting practice Wednesday, but was bypassed for game action after LaMarre was injured.

Projected return: Unknown.

Boone update: “He’s dealing with some neck things. I don’t know if its stiffness or what, but we’re looking into all that and what it could mean. He’s been getting treatment and going through different testing. He’ll be out for BP and going through his routine. We’re just taking the precaution there.

An exam revealed no damage, so the Yanks believe this was just “general soreness” from Britton building up. His first rehab outing was supposed to be with Somerset on Wednesday night, but it postponed.

Projected return: June.
