When it comes to Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless, he’s leveraged an entire, successful media career by being loudly and stubbornly wrong about athletes and major sporting events.

So, when basketball fans (or fans of sports in general, really) all marveled at Saturday’s epic game between top-seeded Gonzaga and No. 11 seed UCLA in the men’s national semifinal, it seemed inevitable that Bayless would chime in with something to undercut the moment.

That, he did.

Basically, Bayless watched UCLA and Gonzaga go back-and-forth for 45 minutes — a game that ended with Jalen Suggs’ banked-in buzzer beater — and thought it wasn’t in the all-time-game conversation because Suggs’ shot was “lucky.”

And sure, there’s always recency bias when it comes to all-time great proclamations, but in every sense, that game on Saturday night was just a delightful basketball-watching experience.

Fans lashed out at Bayless’ tweet for what it was — a disingenuous cry for attention.
