Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud entered the week on the Heisman Trophy shortlist with the regular season winding down. And his performance on Saturday against the No. 7 Michigan State Spartans will only help his cause.
The redshirt-freshman signal-caller was near-perfect as the Buckeyes dismantled the Spartans to the tune of a 56-7 rout in Columbus. Stroud torched the Michigan State secondary for 432 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions on 32-of-35 passing before heading to the bench for most of the second half with the game well in hand.
It was the best performance to date for Stroud, who will have another prime opportunity to impress Heisman voters next week when the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to square off with the No. 6 Michigan Wolverines in the regular-season finale.
