Kliff Kingsbury To Miss Browns Game After Testing Positive For Covid - AZCardinals.com

The Cardinals will be without head coach Kliff Kingsbury for Sunday's game in Cleveland after he tested positive for Covid.

Also testing positive -- and missing the game -- were quarterbacks coach Cam Turner and defensive lineman Zach Allen.

In Kingsbury's place, defensive coordinator Vance Joseph -- who was previously head coach in Denver -- and assistant head coach/special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers will split head coaching responsibilities, with other assistants filling duties where needed.

Offensive line coach/run game coordinator Sean Kugler figures to play a role with the offensive playcalling.

The Cardinals were already without linebacker Chandler Jones, who was put on the Covid list on Tuesday.

Last year, coincidentally enough, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski was the highest-profile coach to miss a game because of Covid. Stefanski missed the Browns' playoff win over the Steelers in January while battling the illness.

Last season, Darrell Bevell, then interim head coach of the Lions, missed a game in December as a close contact requirement. Earlier this season, nine Saints assistant coaches missed a game after positive tests.

Cardinals assistant coaches Steve Heiden and Rusty McKinney also missed an August preseason game against the Chiefs because of Covid.
