He is just a freshman, but Ryan Montgomery is Findlay’s varsity back-up quarterback. With Findlay and a good Whitehouse (Ohio) Anthony Wayne team battling down to the end in a hard-fought 24-14 Findlay win on Friday night, Montgomery did not get into the game. But Montgomery has a bright future ahead of him and his time will come.

The 6-foot-3 and 180-pound Montgomery already has five scholarship offers, Penn State, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Toledo.

After the game, Montgomery talked with Bucknuts about a number of topics including his offer situation, his interest in Ohio State, working with Corey Dennis at the Buckeyes’ camp in June and more.

Montgomery is the younger brother of Ohio State 2023 offensive line target Luke Montgomery. Luke has a list of at least 28 offers that includes Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Florida State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Penn State, Stanford, Minnesota, South Carolina and Nebraska.

The 6-foot-5 and 260-pound Luke is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 59 overall 2023 prospect, the No. 13 defensive tackle and the No. 3 prospect in Ohio.

The 6-foot-5 and 260-pound Luke Montgomery played every offensive snap of the game for Findlay at left tackle and played about 40% to 50% of the snaps on the defensive line, usually at defensive end.

The Buckeyes have one 2023 commitment, tight end Ty Lockwood from Tennessee. The Buckeyes have an outstanding 2022 recruiting class going. To begin with they have a commitment from Ohio 5-star linebacker C.J. Hicks. Ryan Day and his staff also have commitments from 4-star running back Dallan Hayden, 4-star wide receiver Caleb Burton, 4-star wide receiver Kyion Grayes who is the No. 1 prospect in the state of Arizona, 4-star wide receiver Kaleb Brown from Illinois, 4-star wide receiver Kojo Antwi from Georgia, a talented tight end in Bennett Christian from Georgia, the No. 7 prospect in the Buckeyes State in offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola, and 4-star offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick from Colorado. On the defensive side of the ball the Buckeyes also have commitment from country’s No. 5 linebacker Gabe Powers, the No. 3 prospect in Ohio in cornerback Jyaire Brown, 4-star cornerback Terrance Brooks from Texas, and cornerback Ryan Turner and safety Kye Stokes from Florida. It is a class of 14 commitments to this point with twelve being 5 or high 4-star prospects. It is a class that is ranked as the country’s No. 3 recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings.
