The Ravens have lost running back J.K. Dobbins to a season-ending torn ACL, ESPN reported Sunday.
Dobbins was carted off the field Saturday after suffering a knee injury in the opening drive of a preseason victory over Washington.
The 22-year-old former second-round pick was going to be the Ravens’ featured back after averaging 6.0 yards per carry last season.
His injury leaves the Ravens with Gus Edwards and Ty’Son Williams as their top running backs. A former Rutgers and Miami running back, Edwards has averaged 5.2 yards per carry the last three seasons while Williams has run for 131 yards on 24 carries this preseason.
“That one hurts, bro, because you know how much work he put in [and] the type of guy he is,” receiver James Proche told reporters on Saturday of Dobbins. “He loves the game. Anytime the game is taken away from you like that, you really feel for him.”
