NHL Mock Draft 3.3: Coyotes get Canucks' first-round pick, while Sabres take Flyers' selection - The Athletic

UPDATED: The Coyotes acquired the Canucks’ first-round pick and the Sabres acquired the Flyers’ pick on Friday afternoon. Also updated New Jersey’s and Columbus’ last selections in the first round.

For the second time in the past nine months, we can say it is NHL Draft day.

There were a lot of days this past season when people around the NHL, myself included, weren’t sure if this day would come this season. The NCAA, USHL, QMJHL, Russia’s junior league and the main European pro leagues went the distance; but the OHL didn’t play, the WHL had an abbreviated season, the Sweden junior league canceled halfway through, portions of Finland’s junior league couldn’t play, Jr. A hockey had a very brief season in Canada, and almost every international event except the major IIHF tournaments was canceled.

But through all of this, we are here.

This is my last projection for how the first round will go. We’ll have pick-by-pick analysis live through the first round and a full recap of all the picks shortly after the seventh round concludes.
