The Seahawks aren’t letting the first wave of free agency pass by without adding to their offensive line, though it’s not a free agent they’re reportedly adding.

Seattle is sending a 2021 draft pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for guard Gabe Jackson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler. The pick will be a fifth-round selection, per the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Jackson is the second lineman reportedly traded by the Raiders on Wednesday, joining center Rodney Hudson, who went to Seattle’s NFC West rival Arizona.

The 29-year-old Jackson is a seven-year NFL veteran. Originally a third-round NFL Draft pick by the Raiders in 2014, he has played 100 career games, 99 of which he has started. He has played at least 13 games in all but one of his pro seasons, including 16 games three times, and has never missed more than five games in a campaign.

A product of Mississippi State who checks in at 6 foot 3 and 335 pounds, Jackson committed just three penalties last season and was credited with allowing only one sack, according to game-tracking data from SportsInfo Solutions.

Jackson is owed $9.6 million in each of the next two seasons with no money guaranteed.

Former NFL quarterback Jake Heaps, who co-hosts 710 ESPN Seattle’s Jake and Stacy, spoke about Jackson as a possibility for the Seahawks to add earlier Wednesday.

“Gabe Jackson to me is a guy that would make a ton of sense in this conversation,” Heaps said. “… I don’t know exactly if they deem him a scheme fit. That’s my one question about Gabe Jackson.”

Seattle has a need at left guard following the retirement of starter Mike Iupati. Fellow guard Jordan Simmons is a free agent, as is starting center Ethan Pocic and tackle Cedric Ogbuehi. Jackson has mainly played right guard in his career, and Heaps surmised on Twitter that the acquisition of Jackson will result in second-year guard Damien Lewis switching sides in 2021.
